The Gold Seal: proof, not promises

IN SHORT

The Gold Seal is Virtual Patrol Technologies' certification that a facility has demonstrated a real safety-intelligence posture: a reviewable record of how risk is surfaced and answered, a Safety Intelligence Score, and a standing review of both. It certifies, under VPT Standard 001, that the covered zones met the standard for the stated review period. It is not a government accreditation, an insurance certification, a legal or regulatory compliance certification, or a guarantee of facility safety, and it is earned through the record, not bought.

FROM THE FIELD: MICHAEL RANES

In this field, everyone says they take safety seriously. The Gold Seal is about showing it with a record instead of a slogan. It is not an award you hang up and forget. It reflects that a facility is surfacing risk, answering it, and keeping an honest record of both, and that the whole thing was reviewed. A facility that has earned it can point to what it actually does, which is a very different conversation than promising to do better next time.

// The record

Earned through what you can show

The Gold Seal rests on a reviewable record: how risk is surfaced, how staff respond, and how that response is documented over time. The certification follows the record, not the other way around.

// The Safety Intelligence Score

A structured read of posture

The Safety Intelligence Score gives a structured read of a facility's safety-intelligence posture across the areas that matter. It is one input to the Gold Seal and a way to see where a facility stands and where it can improve.

// The review

Certification that is looked at, not assumed

The Gold Seal is tied to a standing review, so it reflects current practice rather than a one-time snapshot. It is a living certification, renewed every 30 days through the same review rhythm that keeps the facility's posture honest.

// Clearing up the confusion

What it is not

  • Not an accreditation. It is a VPT certification against VPT Standard 001, not an accreditation body's credential.
  • Not a government or compliance certification. It does not certify compliance with any law, regulation, or outside standard.
  • Not a safety guarantee. No mark can promise an outcome; it reflects demonstrated practice and an honest record.
  • Not pay-to-play. It is earned through the record and the review, not purchased.
// On the floor

How jailers use it

  • Leadership. a concrete way to show the facility's safety posture to command and county
  • Public transparency. a mark the public and press can understand, backed by a record
  • Funding support. evidence of a serious safety posture when pursuing funding paths

// Common questions

Frequently asked

What is the Gold Seal?
Virtual Patrol Technologies' certification, under VPT Standard 001, that a facility's covered zones met a defined safety-intelligence standard for a stated review period: a reviewable record, a Safety Intelligence Score, and a standing review.
Is it an accreditation or certification?
It is a VPT certification against VPT Standard 001, scoped to the covered zones and the stated review period. It is not a government accreditation, an insurance certification, or a certification of compliance with any law or regulation.
How is it earned?
Through the record and the review, not by purchase. During the Safety Intelligence Audit a facility can earn Gold Seal Provisional at Day 30 and Gold Seal Certification at Day 60. Certification is then renewed every 30 days and can be suspended or downgraded if the standard is not maintained.
Does it guarantee safety?
No. No mark can promise an outcome. It reflects demonstrated practice and an honest, reviewable record.
How does the Safety Intelligence Score relate to it?
The Score is a structured read of a facility's posture and one input to the Gold Seal.
