What VPT does not do
VPT is behavioral only: it detects activity, not identities. It does not run facial recognition, ingests no criminal-justice information, and never monitors PREA-protected or otherwise prohibited private areas.
The controls
Access is limited and least-privilege
Access is role-based and least-privilege, limited to authorized facility staff, with encryption in transit and at rest. Data handling and retention follow the facility’s own policy, not ours.
Why it matters
Credible, not intrusive
In corrections, an approach that overreaches loses the room. Privacy-by-design is what lets a facility adopt earlier awareness without adopting a surveillance posture.
