What is behavioral detection in a facility, and what is it not?

Behavioral detection identifies what is happening, distress, a fall, a fight, a medical emergency, contraband activity, rather than who a person is. It is the foundation of Safety Intelligence, and it deliberately stops well short of identity surveillance.

What it is

Activity and behavior, not identity

Behavioral detection watches for the actions and patterns that signal risk. It answers “is something dangerous happening here, right now?” It does not try to determine who anyone is.
What it is not

No facial recognition, no identity tracking

VPT is behavioral only. It does not run facial recognition, does not identify individuals, and never monitors PREA-protected or private areas. The how of detection is proprietary; the boundary is not.
Why it matters

The right question for a facility

Inside a facility, identity is already known. The safety question is behavioral: who is in distress, where is a fight starting, did someone fall. Behavioral detection targets exactly that, with a person reviewing every alert.
  • detects behavior and activity, not identities
  • no facial recognition, no criminal-justice information ingested
  • never monitors prohibited or private (PREA) areas
  • every alert reviewed by a trained person before action

Virtual Patrolâ„¢’s behavioral detection surfaces risk earlier while staying inside firm privacy boundaries. See how it fits the method, or request an Audit.
